Home Remodeling in Sheboygan Wisconsin - Pine Lane Renovation

A Brighter Path on Pine Lane: A Home Remodel in Sheboygan, Wisconsin

Just a block from Lake Michigan and surrounded by the forest preserves of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, sits a home that recently underwent a thoughtful transformation. The project focused entirely on the first floor interior, including a full remodel of the kitchen, dining room, living room, home office, laundry, and powder bath.

The result is a home that feels brighter, more functional, and better suited to everyday living. This Sheboygan home remodel gave our clients more than just an updated floor plan. It gave them a fresh start in a space that now reflects the way they truly live.

After long days in high-pressure careers, our clients were looking for a home that would restore their energy and bring them a sense of calm. They envisioned a space tailored to their routines and thoughtfully designed for ease. At the top of their list for the first floor remodel: a large laundry room, a comfortable home office, and spaces that could accommodate holiday gatherings while still feeling relaxed day to day.

With that vision in mind, we created a home that prioritizes comfort while encouraging connection. Let’s take a walk through each of the transformed spaces.

A Welcoming Entryway

A well-designed entryway sets the tone for the entire home. It’s the first impression and an important transition space that helps keep the rest of the house organized and calm.

The original back entry was cramped and uninviting. A narrow hallway led directly to a closet containing the washer and dryer, creating a bottleneck as soon as you stepped inside. There was no room to land, no space to pause.

In this entryway, we removed the original closet to create a more open and welcoming transition into the home. In its place, we added a custom drop zone with hooks for coats, bags, and everyday essentials. To the right, built-in cabinetry provides concealed storage for items like keys, mail, dog leashes, or anything you want within reach but out of sight. This thoughtful combination of form and function turns a once-cramped hallway into a purposeful, beautifully integrated space.

Creating Calm and Function in the Kitchen

The kitchen is often the heart of the home. A place where form meets function, and thoughtful design can make daily life feel effortless. The original kitchen at our Pine Lane project was dark, confined, and lacked storage. Deep green tile and heavy cabinetry made the space feel even smaller. Countertop space was limited, and the layout wasn’t optimized for functionality.

We reworked the kitchen layout completely, incorporating custom cabinetry throughout and opening it to the adjacent spaces. The material palette features natural wood tones to match the existing trim, paired with mosaic tile, black hardware, and modern lighting. To keep things from feeling too monotone, we introduced darker wood cabinetry at the coffee bar and entry nook, adding warmth and contrast.

A Morning Moment: The Coffee Bar Nook

What was once an informal dining space is now a built-in coffee bar with bar-height seating. This area is located next to a single window overlooking the wooded backyard, a favorite view of the homeowners.

We designed this nook as a quiet space to slow down and take in the surroundings. It’s the perfect morning ritual spot, and it allowed us to repurpose the square footage in a way that felt more aligned with how the clients actually live.

Living and Dining Reimagined for Connection

Previously, the formal dining room separated the kitchen and living room, making the flow between the two feel disjointed. Ironically, it also blocked the best views in the home. The original living area was compromised by an oversized pellet stove, which made furniture placement awkward and dominated the room.

We relocated the dining space to better connect with the kitchen and shifted the living area to take advantage of the forest views. The pellet stove was removed and replaced with a beautiful natural stone fireplace, becoming a visual and functional focal point. Custom cabinetry and an entertainment center completed the space, creating a gathering area that finally feels cohesive.

Cultivating Focus: The New Home Office

In a busy world, having a dedicated space to think clearly and work without distraction can make all the difference. A calm and inspiring home office helps support focus, creativity, and peace of mind.

The former family room was largely unused , a disconnected space that didn’t serve the homeowners in any meaningful way. We saw an opportunity to reimagine this room into something functional and inspiring.

The new home office is bright, spacious, and lined with custom cabinetry and built-in shelving. A soft blue finish was chosen to spark creativity while still feeling grounded. This change also freed up a bedroom upstairs that had previously served as a makeshift office.

A Place for Everything: The Laundry Room Upgrade

Creating a walk-in laundry room was one of the most requested features. With the washer and dryer originally crammed into a hallway closet, there was no room to breathe, let alone fold laundry comfortably.

We reconfigured the layout and shifted the access point, allowing us to build a full laundry room with cabinetry, counter space, and a closet. The cabinetry was finished in a soft beige with white walls, creating a calm and clean atmosphere for one of the most functional (and visually stunning) rooms in the home.

Small Space, Big Style: Powder Bath Updates

Small spaces like powder rooms offer an opportunity to introduce personality and style without overwhelming the overall design. While this space didn’t need a full rework, it received a thoughtful refresh with new flooring, paint, fixtures, and finishes like a playful green subway tile that added personality and charm.

We removed the open shelving in the small nook near the toilet to store toiletries and bathroom supplies seamlessly and to hide clutter. The updates brought consistency to the rest of the home’s palette and tied in the nature-inspired colors seen throughout.

“We are just overjoyed with the entire experience and result. Everything from start to finish was so seamless, professional and quick. Every timeline was met and communication was clear. Our home feels so much more modern, clean and organized.”

Designing a Home That Truly Fits

This Sheboygan home remodel is a testament to how thoughtful design can completely change the feel of a home , not just in how it looks, but in how it lives. By reimagining the first floor to reflect our clients’ routines and preferences, we were able to create spaces that feel personal, polished, and purposeful.
