Steven Peskie of Distinctive Design Studio provides excellent service with professional attention. He took a concept we had, a vision, for our dream bathroom and worked with us to provide several versions in which to choose from. Steve captures his clients dreams, tastes, likes, dislikes when he meets to discuss a project. The drawings he provides are detailed and extensive. He takes the time to explain all the versions and his thinking behind them. All of this helped my husband and I pick the design that was to become our bathroom. We were able to contact him during our project to ask his thoughts and advice from anything related to structure to what type of fixture would work best. This is a designer who enjoys his craft as well as helping people. Steve designed the blueprints for our remodel. (bedroom, bathroom, closet, mudroom, laundry room). He also helped us chose finishes, paint, a bedspread, hardware, colors, furniture pieces etc. We were extremely pleased with how he listened to what we like and took that into consideration in all his suggestions. We are more than please with the outcome. When we remodel the kitchen, we will call him first!

We hired Steve to design and remodel two bathrooms. He is very detail oriented and quite creative. He was always available to us and the workers and he helped us stay focused and was a calming presence throughout the project. We love the new look of both bathrooms and will continue to use his skills as we plan to add a wine cellar in our basement next year. We highly recommend his services. He is a pleasure to work with!

The service provided by Distinctive Design was the highlight of my recent remodeling project. Steve was always available to answer questions, review my choices and provide consultation with the contractor. When the cabinetry was delivered, he was there to assist in unloading the material and then inspected the installation of the cabinets and the counter tops.

We first worked with Distinctive Design Studio on a basement project in 2005, and again in 2009 to rebuild a 1929 cottage which we received many compliments on how well we utilize the space and incorporated/recycled material. In 2014, we contacted them to update our 12 year-old kitchen. They catered to our needs by listening well and are very knowledgable in every aspect of building and designing. They have a very good reputation among contractors they works with- it was easy to tell from their demeanor when we met to discuss the project on hand. I would highly recommend Steve Peskie to homeowners looking for a major remodel project. After experiencing significant water damage, we were forced/had the opportunity to do a major remodel. Instead of putting our Elkhart Lake cottage back together in exactly the same way, we decided to create a new, modern space that still evoked some rustic qualities. Our builder directed us to Steve. Steve is warm, thoughtful and deeply dedicated to his craft. He is very creative and has tremendous attention to detail. He settles for nothing short of the best. And if you desire, he will also lead you out of your comfort zone. My wife and I, left to our own devices, would have stuck to a relatively conservative approach to a contemporary remodel. Steve listened carefully to us, to our likes and dislikes, and was able to show us design concepts that we would have never thought of. And we LOVE the result. A great example is our fireplace. I really wanted to incorporate stacked stone into the new fireplace and mantel. I would have simply wrapped the whole structure in stacked stone and been happy. But not Steve. He introduced us to board formed concrete and ended up designing a fireplace that incorporated board formed concrete, stacked stone, black granite from our pre-existing kitchen that got torn apart, and a distressed ash mantel beam. It is simply stunning -- and it's truly one of a kind. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Steve again for the next project.

Steve is a wonderful designer! He is extremely professional and diligent. As a local builder, we choose Steve to design many kinds of plans for us. He always listens closely to what clients want and the rendered drawings come out to a tee. His innovative ideas and use of technology in bringing ideas to life is so impressive and really helps clients to visualize the end product.
