CARPENTER/LEAD CARPENTER

Distinctive Design Studio is looking for motivated, skilled individuals to join our growing construction team. This position is ideal for someone with a couple of years of hands-on experience in residential carpentry who takes pride in their work and wants to grow in their craft. We’re also hiring experienced lead carpenters who can take on more responsibility, oversee site work, and help guide junior team members. Responsibilities:

• Conduct demolition, rough and finish carpentry, and installation of millwork/cabinetry, windows, doors, and other fixtures as required
• Read project specifications and building plans to prepare project layout, dimensions, and gather materials required
• Operate company vehicle, tools, machines, and other equipment in a safe manner
• Inspects completed work to ensure quality and accuracy

Qualifications:

• General knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction
• Aspiration to perform high quality work and provide excellent customer service
• Physically sound, have good sense of balance, dexterity, and excellent hand-eye coordination
• Basic mathematic skills
• Self-motivated and reliable
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Possess and maintain valid driver’s license and good driving record
• Professional and courteous manner when interacting with clients and coworkers
• Leadership experience is a plus for lead carpenter applicants
• Ability to follow direction and work independently or as part of a team

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or its equivalent
• Previous work experience as a carpenter is required, at least 2 years of hands-on experience preferred, residential carpentry experience a plus

Physical Demands:

• Ability to stand for prolonged periods
• Pull and lift heavy objects (40-60 lbs.)
• Kneeling, bending, and climbing
• Possess good vision and hearing
• Majority of the work will be interior, but must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains
